چکیده

The adhesion strength of a Cu/Cr/polyimide (PI) flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL), which was manufactured by the roll-to-roll process, was evaluated according to the thickness of the Cr seed layer using the 90 peel test. The changes in the morphology, chemical bonding and adhesion properties were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The peel strength of the FCCL decreased with increasing Cr layer thickness. The higher FCCL peel strength was attributed to the lower proportion of C-N bonds and higher proportion of C-O or carbonyl (C=O) bonds on the PI surface compared to the FCCL with the lower adhesion strength. The FCCL with the higher peel strength had a fractured PI surface with a higher surface roughness. The adhesion strength between the metal and PI was mostly attributed to the chemical interaction between the metal layer and the functional groups of the PI. [doi:10.2320/matertrans.M2009276]

Modeling and Optimization of Roll-bonding Parameters for Bond Strength of Ti/Cu/Ti Clad Composites by Artificial Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithm

This paper deals with modeling and optimization of the roll-bonding process of Ti/Cu/Ti composite for determination of the best roll-bonding parameters leading to the maximum Ti/Cu bond strength by combination of neural network and genetic algorithm. An artificial neural network (ANN) program has been proposed to determine the effect of practical parameters, i.e., rolling temperature, reduction...

An investigation on the bond strength of aluminum strips in presence of brass mesh after cold roll bonding

In the present study, the presence of brass mesh on the bond strength of aluminum (AA1050) strips in the cold roll bonding process was investigated. The influence of various process parameters including reduction in thickness, pre-rolling annealing, initial thickness of the strips, and post-rolling annealing was also considered. After cold roll bonding process, peeling test was carried out and ...

Ovality and Bow Defect of Pre-punched Sheets in Roll Forming of Trapezoidal Sections

Roll forming process is used for manufacturing sheet metal parts by successive bending and creating the final shape with gradual deformation. In this article, deformation of a pre-punched sheet due to the roll forming process was studied. Two main defects in the roll forming process are ovality of holes and bow defect. The ovality of the hole is influenced by the process parameters including sh...

Microstructure formation via roll-to-roll UV embossing using a flexible mould made from a laminated polymer–copper film

Roll-to-roll large format UV embossing processes aim to revolutionize the manufacturing of functional films, with the ability to process a large area at one time, resulting in high throughput and cost reduction. In this paper, we present the experimental results obtained during the process development for roll-to-roll large format UV embossing. Flexible moulds were fabricated from a hybrid film...

Fabrication of the Cu-Zn multilayer and Cu-Zn alloy by accumulative roll bonding (ARB) with an emphasis on the wear behavior

Accumulative roll bonding (ARB) was used to fabricate the Cu-Zn multilayer and Cu-Zn solid solution. A lamellar structure with the hardness of about 130 VHN was formed after eight ARB cycles. Following to the suitable heat treatment, a solid solution with a uniform microstructure and hardness of about 57 VHN was produced. The dominant wear mechanism in the ARB processed multilayer was found to ...
